newbie.

confessions of a neophyte blogger:

  1. why do bloggers insert characters into certain words like "c*stco" or "f&ck that?" i'm guessing it's so those terms don't come up under searches?
  2. what is rss?
  3. is there an easy way to track my favorite blogs?
  4. why do some bloggers put an * next to their favorite blogs listed on their site?
  5. do you think blogs should have a theme or focus? if so, why? if not, why not?
  6. am i a total geek?

hm.
1]look closely; often that's done to brand names, so not too many random searchers come to the ppl's blog.
2]it's a newsreader format; ppl like to check blog headlines in newsreaders rather than maually clicking from one blog to the next to check for news. Good when you have lots of daily reads to do.
3]track means keeping track of? then blogrolling.com is neat. which leads to...
...4] it's a blogrolling feature, e.g. you can modify the display of bloglinks. a star or the like indicates the updated blogs. meaning, only really display if the resp. bloggers sends a ping to blogrolling.
5] verily, every man to his own humour.
6] ahm. i'm afraid you're not yet. but you're cool nonethless :)

cheers!
