« i'm on fiyah. | Main | friday favorites. »
it's official.
my dad is moving in with us.
he's finally out of the "institutionalized" part of his rehab and is ready to transition home, just not his home. there's been a ton of drama between my sisters and i surrounding the decision to have him live with us, mainly because he wants to be close to his grandchildren. unfortunately, the outpatient rehab center is closer to us; i work from home, so i'm more available; and we have the room. since my better half and i live about 45 minutes away, they wanted us to relocate to their hometown. (um. no.) it's resolved now and i have until friday to ready his room. we have a small house, so it will be an adjustment, that's for sure.
i'm supposed to be cleaning out my office to make said room, but i never know where to begin. i've had this problem for quite a number of years, as demonstrated in childhood by my sister frantically helping me clean my room to avoid a mother meltdown. unfortunately, my better half isn't able to get away so i'm here on my own blogging instead of organizing.
sounds like a good plan, yes?
and hey. i still have 24 hours. i'm an official procrastinator, doncha know.

Funny, I am procrastinating too! I just wrote three days worth of blog posts all because I am not quite ready to face my morning ...

So you just need to actually go in the room like for 15 minutes at a time, proabbly best if you drink coffee first. Anyway, this method will allow you start something and then once it actually gets boaring, you can leave, go out of the room, and come back in in 20 minutes or so, to start an entirely new task. Just a thought. Seems like I am a genuine consultant eh!

Procrastinating aside, how wonderful and amazing that you're able to help your dad in this way. I wish you lots of patience and energy during the transition and beyond.
My family has been sharing the responsibility of caring for my uncle in-between his reconstruction surgeries, and it's been exhausting for all of them. Tony, Cole, myself and my cousin make the trip once a month to help perk everyone up.
Here's to steady positive progress for your dad and my uncle!
