my not-so-green thumbs.
my not-so-green thumbs are now the proud owners of a brand new front garden. for most of the time we've lived in this house (going on — gulp — three years), the front yard has been a big fat dirt patch. every time we entertained, the appearance of the yard got under my skin.
well, no longer! my sister, who actually owns two bona fide green thumbs, helped me design and build a new look. i didn't realize that it would cost so little to make such a huge difference. with a bit of donated soil, some amendment and about $175-worth of plants (including purple sage, lamb's ear, licorice plant, queen anne's lace, lavender, rosemary, bacopa and morning glory), whew! what a diff.
my lingering hope is that i will not kill everything before the plants grow into their fluffy, wild glory.
i so love new plants: they are just the promise of something. so perfect, still pruned beautifully from the nursery. i want my garden to stay that way. do they sell food coloring for thumbs? maybe i can dye them green.
