new favorite app alert!
having a variety of instant messaging apps open makes me feel cluttered and disorganized, therefore i celebrated joyfully when my better half told me about adium, a free instant messaging app his co-worker told him about.
adium allows apple os x users to consolidate their standalone im apps and put them into one lovely, customizable window. among other preferences, users may choose which emoticons they'd like to use (msn, yahoo!, ichat, none), status icons, layout and, my personal fave, window style. instead of the clunky interface of yahoo! messenger, i now have something lovely like this.
according to their site, adium supports the following:
- aol instant messenger (including icq and .mac)
- jabber (including google talk)
- msn messenger
- yahoo! messenger (including yahoo! japan)
- bonjour (compatible with ichat)
- gadu-gadu
- novell groupwise
- lotus sametime
and for you pc folks (yes, i still love you anyway), check out trillian for an app with similar functionality.
ps isn't their consumer-friendly logo cute?

God bless you. I've been looking for a Trillian-like app for my mac for MONTHS.
Thanks!
