new recipe: humble pie.
just when you think you're confident in the kitchen, you go to reach for a saucepan sitting on the stove that's been sitting in a 400° oven for 20 minutes. sans protection.
needless to say, i've survived, but i think i have my first official kitchen scar all over the palm of my hand.
the roasted chickpeas i was making? not so fortunate. they ended up all over the kitchen floor after said pan went flying out of my scalded hand.
what to do if you are humbled in the kitchen.

Yikes! I hope that you're OK...

Oh, I'm so sorry! I've done that before, and it is not fun. I almost did it again last night when I reached to take the lid off of a dish that had just come out of the oven. Fortunately I caught myself, this time.
I hope it heals fast. Did you put lots of ice on it?

Owwwww! I always try to put a towel on something that has come out of the oven to remind myself. I also have a couple of pans that have handles that heat up on the stove - that's no fun either!

oh no! i'm sorry to hear this. i hope you're alright. something similar happened to my mom last year. she had an aloe vera plant and spread the inner aloe gel over the burn (after cooling the burn). it helps it to cool and heal real quick.
