strawberry shortcake is just fine the way she is, thank you.
having grown up with strawberry shortcake (yeah, i had the sheet set), i found reading this article highly irritating. a highlight:
most of the brands getting a makeover are from the 1980s. licensing experts say they perceive a subtle psychological game at play, an attempt to hit the nostalgia button on a generation of young parents just as they start to feel their first twinges of middle age.
annoying. i like my strawberry shortcake just the way she was: pink, smelly good and sans cell phone.

Seriously. The new "version" doesn't even come close to pushing my nostalgia button.
